CONTRACEPTIVES  METHODS

There are adequate methods of contraception for all women. Consultation with an experienced and up-to-date gynecologist guides you in the most appropriate choice.

COLPOSCOPIA

Colposcopy (kol-POS-kuh-pee) is a procedure to closely examine your cervix, vagina and vulva for signs of disease. During colposcopy, your doctor uses a special instrument called a colposcope.Your doctor may recommend colposcopy if your Pap test result is abnormal. If your doctor finds an unusual area of cells during colposcopy, a sample of tissue can be collected for laboratory testing (biopsy).

PENISCOPY (HPV IN MEN)

HPV can persist in apparently normal tissues.

Male genital infection by human papillomavirus is of particular importance since it is often asymptomatic. The patient generally presents no clinical lesion. Therefore, men represent an important reservoir of virus, playing a special role in the transmission and perpetuation of the disease.

Examination of the male is performed with the patient in a lithotomy position on a standard gynecology table. The external genitalia were inspected grossly for evidence of visible lesions, and were then soaked for five minutes in 5% acetic acid. The urethral meatus (only the external opening) and the entire external surface of the penis, scrotum, and anus were systematically examined with a colposcope with a magnification of x 7-12. Small surface irregularities, color differences and changes in vascularizationcan be visualized by this magnification.

In some cases only the sample collection to identify and quantify the viral DNA subtype can make the diagnosis.
